Blog 2.0

I'm giving the blog thing a second shot. I did it a couple of years ago, got annoyed with it, and deleted the whole thing. I kind of regret doing that, but it had become one more thing for which I felt a sense of obligation, so trashing it it made sense at the time. After I deleted it, all these people came out of the woodwork and told me they missed reading it. I had no idea that people were actually reading it, however, so sorry about that.

I wasn't planning on keeping the same name for the second incarnation, but every name i could think of was already taken, and my old blog name was available. Plus, I like the name. Dainty Work for Pleasure and Profit is the name of a book about needlework that was published in the late 1800s--kind of an early homemaker's book--that I used when I was writing the book that hellish summer before last. But I always liked the name because it sounds like a really delicate euphemism for prostitution. So, "Dainty Work for Pleasure and Profit" it stays.

I'm not getting to do too much writing these days, so hopefully this will give me an outlet for that. I miss it. That said, I must go for now. It's Sunday afternoon and I've got an editorial deadline tomorrow and a bunch of stuff I have to get ready. And I need to vacuum. And clean up a couple of places where the cats vomited. I could have done that earlier, but I was busy gluing buttons onto my bedside tables.
